Due to an error with Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 and Adobe Reader 6.0, you may have received one or both of the following error messages:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If so, perform the following steps in order to prevent this error from occurring in the future.  The changes you will make will configure Adobe Acrobat Professional and/ or Adobe Reader to open the .pdf file in the Adobe window instead of opening the file directly within the Internet Explorer browser window.

  1. From the Start menu, select Programs.  Then, select Adobe Acrobat Professional or Adobe Reader. (Whichever appears in your list of programs.)

  2. From the Edit menu, select Preferences.

  3. Select Internet from the list of sections in the window on the left side of the screen.

  1. Remove the checks next to Display PDF in Browser, as well as from Check Browser Settings when starting Acrobat.

  2. Close Adobe Acrobat. 

  3. Note- If both Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 as well as Adobe Reader 6.0 appeared in your list of programs, you must perform these steps in each of the applications.

  4. You should now be able to open the .pdf files without any problems.
