Terry Gonzalez has over 20 years of management experience in county government. She joined the Community Development Commission in 1983 as a supervisor of housing rehabilitation programs. She has held a number of positions including the manager of the Housing Rehabilitation Unit and manager of the CDBG Division. She was appointed director of the CDBG Division in May 1994.
Ms. Gonzalez administers the largest urban county CDBG Program in the country. Her administrative responsibilities include the planning, allocation, compliance and reporting of CDBG activities for the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, comprised of over 45 small participating cities, 55 community based organizations, and numerous county departments. She directs the development of the Housing and Community Development Five-Year Consolidated Plans for the Los Angeles Urban County, each One-Year Action Plan, and the Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report. Other responsibilities include ensuring compliance with program and fiscal regulations via the provision of monitoring, technical assistance and training, and interfacing with public and elected officials.
Ms. Gonzalez is past president of the National Association of County Community and Economic Development (NACCED).
