New Revised CDBG ProjectsThe Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program was initiated by the U. S. Congress in 1974 as part of the Housing and Community Development Act. The program is funded directly by the federal government’s Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Although the Act has been amended in recent years, the primary objective continues to be the development of viable urban communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low- and moderate-income.
