The Los Angeles County Community Development Commission/Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles (HACoLA) is the second largest Housing Authority in the Southern California Area with an allocation of over 20,000 vouchers. HACoLA receives funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide housing subsidy to eligible low-income families residing in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County and 62 participating cities through Public Housing and the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program.
HACoLA's Assisted Housing Division (Division) administers the Los Angeles County Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, Housing Opportunities for People with Aids (HOPWA) program, the Shelter Plus Care programs, the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program, and the Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation Program. The Division also administers the Section 8 rental assistance program on behalf of the cities of Santa Fe Springs, Lakewood, Lomita, Paramount, Lawndale, and West Hollywood.

We are proud to assist almost 21,000 families through a partnership with over 10,000 property owners. 480 families participate in the Family Self Sufficiency Program and an additional 70 have successfully graduated in the last two years, thus moving closer to achieving economic independence!
We are linked to the first affordable housing website, Los Angeles County Housing Resource Center, which provides an up-to-date listing of available rental units throughout the County and beyond. So, don’t forget to visit this website.
